The Los Angeles Lakers have found themselves in a little bit of a skid recently after an encouraging start to the campaign. In wake of that, the team made a roster move, one that will however likely have a minimal impact.
The team announced today that they have waived veteran journeyman center Andrew Bogut.
The Los Angeles Lakers have requested waivers on Andrew Bogut, it was announced today.
The Lakers roster stands at 16, including two Two-Way players.
Andrew Bogut appeared in 24 games for the Lakers this season, including 5 starts. Bogut wasn’t a staple in their rotation by any means, as he was buried underneath the depth chart. The Lakers roster a plethora of capable big men including Julius Randle, Brook Lopez, Larry Nance Jr, and rookie Kyle Kuzma, deeming Bogut almost completely expendable.
After holding down a solid role for the Milwaukee Bucks early on in his career, the 33-year-old Bogut has bounced around the league in recent years outside of a 4-year stint with the Golden State Warriors. Since then, Bogut played 26 games for the Dallas Mavericks and appeared in only one matchup for the Cleveland Cavaliers before joining the Lakers.
This season with LA, Bogut produced pedestrian per-game averages of 1.5 points to go along with 3.3 rebounds. With the midway point of the NBA season rapidly approaching and injuries piling up for a handful of playoff teams, Bogut could get a shot to join a contender in a reserve role down the road.
