Trade season is upon us, and it’s not surprise the Los Angeles Lakers are going to try to join in on the festivities this year. It has been reported by Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype that Lou Williams is being shopped around.
Tania Ganguli of the LA Times has also reported that the Lakers are making more of an effort this season to make some moves around the trade deadline.
As the trade deadline approaches, I asked Mitch Kupchak if the Lakers plan to be active. “We are active.” https://t.co/yoxtaDObIS pic.twitter.com/n4LK7oPQ1t

The Lakers, sitting at the third worst record in the league at 19-39 going into the All-Star break, are most likely looking to set their focus on developing the young talent on the team and trying to retain their first round pick this season. If they end up outside of the top 3 on draft lottery night, the Lakers will lose their pick to the Philadelphia 76ers.
Lou Will is putting up career numbers at the age of 30. He’s posting a career high in points per game at 18.6, field goal attempts (12.7), field goals made (5.4), free throw percentage (88.4 percent), and three point percentage which is currently at 38.6 percent. On top of that, he’s adding 3.2 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game.
The 30-year-old has long been seen as a sixth man, dating back to his days with the Philadelphia 76ers. He won the award in 2014-2015 as a member of the Toronto Raptors.
Williams currently has two years left on his contract, worth $14 million, after signing a three-year deal for $21 million. The contract is relatively cheap given the increase in salary cap this past summer and this upcoming summer, so he’s on a team-friendly deal.
There have been a few teams who are looking for some scoring off of the bench rumored to have interest in Lou Williams at the deadline.
