Williams is the reigning sixth man of the year and is one of the purest scorers off the bench where he has the green light to fire it up whenever he wants. Lou also provides versatility as he can play either guard spot.
Williams most likely won’t have the freedom he had in Toronto however as the Lakers have an absolute log jam in the backcourt similar to that of the Phoenix Suns last year and we all know how that panned out. Williams is going to have to share the bench minutes amongst other guards such as Jordan Clarkson and Nick Young, assuming 2nd overall draft pick D’Angelo Russell starts right away. That could and will mean less touches for the electrifying guard which could ultimately result in tensions riding high in the locker room.
However, Los Angeles has gotten substantially better than last season adding talent via the draft and free agency such as D’Angelo Russell, Roy Hibbert, and now Lou Williams. Barring any setbacks to Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle’s injuries, LA could be a team to watch out for come next season.
