LaKeith Stanfield is set to star alongside Mark Wahlberg in Shane Black’s Play Dirty for Amazon MGM Studios. Black’s latest project will bring an adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels to the big screen.
“An inured pro thief is stabbed in the back and left for dead. As he plans revenge, the plan coincidentally also happens to be the biggest heist of his time. However, he is tasked with outsmarting a South American dictator, the New York mob and the world’s richest man if he hopes to stay alive, although he has the help of his accomplice, an actor-slash-con artist Grofield,” a synopsis from Cinema Express reads.
Wahlberg will play the role of the “inured pro thief” looking for revenge. Meanwhile, Stanfield will play the role of his “actor-slash-con artist” accomplice.
Behind the scenes, Charles Mondry, Anthony Bagarozzi and the aforementioned Shane Black will have a hand in writing the script. Jules Daly, James Skotchdopole, and Marc Toberoff will take producing roles while Ezra Emmanuel, Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey will take executive producer positions.
