Kristaps Porzingis was drafted fourth overall on Thursday night by the Knicks, something that Knicks fans don’t seem to be happy about. While Knicks fans and reportedly Carmelo Anthony aren’t happy with Phil Jackson’s selection, Porzingis definitely seems like a cool dude to hang around.
In an interview with the New York Post, Porzingis introduces himself to New York, talking about his favorite movie, which is Friday, how he plans to put on more weight, how he will help the Knicks get back to winning ways, and the women of New York City.
“I want to have a long career in the NBA first, I want to be an All-Star, and hopefully one day I can win a ring with the New York Knicks,” Porzingis said when asked what he wants his basketball legacy to be. “I think with me now, and (Jerian) Grant, we can hopefully change some things in the future, and make something special happen out of all this situation.”
He would continue to say:
“I will do everything’s that’s in my hands to be the best player I can be, and I will do whatever’s in my hands to see that people were wrong and that Phil (Jackson) was right,” Porzingis said. “Don’t worry about me, my moment will come. I’ll be ready for it, I will work hard, and whenever it’s gonna come, whenever the coaches are gonna trust me, I’m gonna be on court and give 100 percent.”
He then talked about the culture of New York and how it’s different then Latvia.
“Everybody’s in such a rush,” he said.
Porzingis assured fans that he’ll put in the work to become a great player, the kind of player Knicks fans hope for. He also said he hasn’t had a chance to check out the women of New York yet, but he is a fan of blonds.
Living in New York for the past four years Kristaps, they’re nothing special.
