Prosecutors have decided to drop groping charges against Kevin Spacey. The actor was facing a felony charge for indecent assault and battery.
According to CBS 4 in Boston, prosecutors were pushed to drop the charges “due to the unavailability of the complaining witness.”
The charges stemmed from an encounter between a teenage busboy and Kevin Spacey at Club Car in Nantucket. The accuser went over to have a conversation with Spacey because he was a fan. In return, Spacey allegedly bought alcoholic beverages for the teenager. After drinking for a bit, the actor allegedly attempted to persuade the accuser to come home with him. From there, Spacey allegedly unzipped the accuser’s pants and groped him for several minutes.
The accuser allegedly attempted to remove Spacey’s hands, but the misconduct allegedly continued. Afraid he would get in trouble for consuming alcoholic, the accuser fled the situation and ran to the bathroom.
After the charges were dropped, the accuser’s attorney, Mitchell Garabedian, said, “My client and his family have shown an enormous amount of courage under difficult circumstances.” He added, “I have no further comment at this time.”
