The Cleveland Cavaliers and power forward Kevin Love are discussing a potential buyout that would send him to free agency. They will continue to discuss terms during the All-Star break and try to come to terms on a buyout. If Love is bought out by the Cavaliers, several NBA Playoff contenders are expected to pursue the power forward for the rest of the season. Love, who is in the final year of his contract is the last member left on the team from the 2016 NBA Championship. He has not played in the team’s last 12 games.
#Cavs Kevin Love made a formal buyout request Wednesday, hours before team’s final game of the first half. He wants to play. Thinks he still can. And knew that was unlikely to happen in Cleveland. Now, the two sides will work through the next stepshttps://t.co/kLHqpDRRR1

This season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Kevin Love averaged 8.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 38.9 percent and a three-point percentage of 35.4 percent. With Love out of the Cleveland rotation, it seems as if the team is ready to move on to a new era while Love is hoping to contribute to a different NBA Playoff team.
Several teams have already been linked to Kevin Love if the power forward is indeed bought out with the Miami Heat being mentioned in several reports. Love likely won’t push a team into title contention, but he could be the depth player a team needs to be more competitive heading into the 2022-23 NBA Playoffs.
