Heisman Trophy Finalist Kenny Pickett has played his last game for the the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. On Thursday evening, Pickett took to Twitter to announce that he will skip the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl and prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft.
Pickett may not join his teammates in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve, but he finished off his career with a bang. In the 2021 ACC Championship Game, Pickett earned 20 yards on the ground, threw for another 253 and scored two touchdowns. With Pickett’s performance, the Panther were able to pick up their first ACC title of the 21st century.
“One of the best moments of my football career was standing on stage with you, the team, and our ACC Championship trophy,” Pickett told fans and teammates.
“I will never forget our victory and everything it took to get us there.”
After his performance in the 2021 ACC Championship Game, Pickett traveled to New York for the 2021 Heisman Trophy presentation. Pickett finished third in voting behind Aidan Hutchinson of Michigan and Bryce Young of Alabama.
Heading into the NFL, Pickett has high expectations as a potential first round pick. ESPN’s draft expert Mel Kiper currently ranks him as the top quarterback to come out of college this year.
