Following the release of this year’s Grammy nominations, a number of artists raised issues with the outcome. However, few were more high-profile than Justin Bieber. The Canadian superstar felt that his 2020 album, Changes, was miscategorized and placed in the pop section of the award show.
“To the Grammys I am flattered to be acknowledged and appreciated for my artistry. I am very meticulous and intentional about my music. With that being said I set out to make an R&B album. Changes was and is an R&B album,” he stated.
“It is not being acknowledged as an R&B album which is very strange to me. I grew up admiring R&B music and wished to make a project that would embody that sound.”
For his upcoming album, Justice, it appears that he is intentionally making a push for an R&B sound. This time around, he’s rumored to have spent time working with the likes of Giveon and Daniel Caesar. He’s also been linked to pop and R&B leaning acts like Khalid. As he prepares for the release of his latest album, he has delivered a new single called “Hold On.” Check out the track and video below.
