JT from the City Girls has been denied early release from prison.
JT is currently behind bars serving a 24-month prison sentence for felony identity theft, at a Tallahassee prison.
According to The Blast, the rapper filed documents “requesting to be freed months earlier and so she could be placed in a halfway house.”
The City Girls rapper says she has earned 108 days good conduct time credit and on July 12,“she will have completed 15.6 months (12 months plus 3.6 months earned good time credit), thereby leaving 8.4 months of her sentence to be served.”
The Blast also reports that JT’s attorney used the rapper’s rising success as a factor as to why she should be released early.
“Beginning around her change of plea City Girls became a force in the music industry. They have grown an intense fan base and have developed relationships with the elite of the elite.”
He continued,
“It is without hesitation that I can proffer that you will never hear from this Defendant regarding any type of crime, much less an economic one. Granting this recommendation will allow the Defendant to get back to the studio where she belongs.”
While the judge has denied the request, there is still a chance that JT could be released early. The decision will be made by the Bureau of Prisons.
She will have to complete one year of probation after her prison release.
