Jordan Peele’s reboot of The Twilight Zone has remained shrouded in mystery, as you would expect. In the last few months, however, we’ve learned more about the anthology series, specifically it’s stacked cast. But, as the series’ April 1st premiere approaches, we’ve begun to learn more about the show’s tone. The latest update came during Sunday’s Super Bowl when the broadcast seemed to cut out for a few seconds before it was revealed to be an ad for The Twilight Zone.
No new footage is shown in this trailer though and it seems meant to introduce audiences to the tone of the new series. Peele is shown in an empty stadium, monologuing creepily about football. Multiple shots show clones of Peele sitting in the stadium before he reaches a lonely door at the 50-yard and addresses the camera directly. “What dimension are you even in?” he asks slowly before walking through the door into nothing as the famous music plays softly.
Ike Barinholtz, John Cho, Lucinda Dryzek, Taissa Farmiga, Sanaa Lathan, Kumail Nanjiani, Adam Scott, Alison Tolman, and Jacob Tremblay are all set to appear, among others. The Twilight Zone was created by Rod Sterling and originally ran from 1959 to 1964. It has been revived twice since with the first running for 110 episodes on CBS beginning in 1985. Then, in the early 2000s, UPN ran another reboot for 43 episodes with Forest Whitaker serving as narrator.
Peele’s iteration of The Twilight Zone hits CBS All-Access on April 1st.
