Joell Ortiz has released his latest body of work called Monday. The New York artist announced the album back in June. He told The Source, “I’m back to work. Monday is the start of the week. The grind!”
Later, he added, “Working people normally dread Mondays. Not me though; I embrace them! Feels like another opportunity. Another chance. The beginning of what’s ahead. On Monday I talk about life. Old me, new me, and the guy that next Monday may introduce to you all.”
After weeks of anticipation, the project is finally here. It features production from Big K.R.I.T, Nottz, Apollo Brown and many more. Led by the single, “Learn You” featuring Big K.R.I.T, the project features more than a dozen new tracks from Ortiz. In addition to K.R.I.T, the project also has a feature from Blakk Soul.
When asked about his work with K.R.I.T, Ortiz said, “Working with K.R.I.T. was super dope! We basically had long conversations over the phone about life and human things for about a week or so before we even talked about music.”
Listen to his collaboration with K.R.I.T and much more above. Also, stay tuned for more new releases from Common, Maino and others this holiday weekend.
