Slaughterhouse’s Joe Budden isn’t feeling fellow hip-hop artist Drake’s new album, “VIEWS”.
Joe Budden has been known to have some of the most vivacious opinions on his podcast, and a discussion of Drake’s new album, VIEWS, seems to have the rapper quite worked up.
In some clips of the podcast posted to his Instagram earlier today, Budden is seen debating with his co-host Rory about Drake’s latest album, which he feels does not show any progression since the rapper’s previous work. Budden spoke about the possibility of Drake peaking already and said that “Take Care” was his best album to date.
“I think that that kid on that album that I heard sounds real f*cking uninspired,” exclaims Budden, who is a self-professed Drake fan.
But he certainly doesn’t blame the album’s, which he enjoyed, shortcomings on producer Noah “40” Shebib. “40, you sound amazing,” Budden yells on his podcast.
Budden gives Drake credit for starting his own sub-genre of Hip Hop. However, Budden seems to find issue with the rapper riding the wave of other artists rather than setting the trends of the culture like he believes Drizzy did at one point.
“40 continues to progress. Drake, you do not … I miss the Drake that starts the waves, not hops on other waves,” says Budden.
Budden dropped several other clips on IG debating Drake’s new project with co-host Rory.
He also explains in the caption for one of the videos that he’s a Drake fan, but that he “just look[s] deeper.”
Budden revealed on Twitter today that the full episode of his podcast will drop tomorrow (May 5). Check out iTunes and Soundcloud to hear it.
