In his 11-season career with the Baltimore Ravens, Jimmy Smith recorded 324 solo tackles, 374 total tackles, three sacks, two forced fumbles, 76 passes defended, and 14 interceptions that he returned for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Smith is best known for helping the Baltimore Ravens win Super Bowl XLVII. The talented cornerback defended a 4th and goal play and stopped Michael Crabtree from catching the game-winning touchdown pass in the Super Bowl. Baltimore won the game 34-31 over the San Francisco 49ers. Smith would later get a tattoo on his left forearm of the team’s Super Bowl ring.

Last season Jimmy Smith hinted at his retirement after he was quoted saying the following: “Part of it is, ‘Do I even want to put my body through something like this again? So I do cherish these last games. I’m getting old. I’ve been through a lot of injuries, and they start to pile up on you.” Smith did not suit up in the 2022 NFL season and has now made his retirement official. Injuries riddle his career, but he was undoubtedly a valuable member of the team for over a decade. We here at Def Pen Sports would like to congratulate Smith on his career and wish him the best in his life beyond football.
