It’s an all-California affair at SoFi Stadium tonight. In a few hours, California native Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg will lead the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, but another California native will handle things before they take the stage. Jhené Aiko has been tapped to deliver a rendition of “America The Beautiful” in Inglewood this evening.
Aiko is no stranger to the big stage. As a six-time Grammy nominee, she has collaborated with the likes of Drake and Donald Glover while touring the world. Tonight’s performance showcased the poise and endless skillset that many have enjoyed over the years.
“Oh beautiful, for spacious skies/For amber waves of grain/For purple mountain majesties/Above the fruited plain,” Aiko sang.
The Los Angeles native is one of four vocalists to share their talents with the world before kickoff. Mickey Guyton has been tasked with singing the National Anthem while Mary Mary performs “Lift Every Voice and Sing” with the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles.
