The Alabama Crimson Tide have landed the best point guard in the 2021 recruiting class. Alabama native JD Davison has committed to Nate Oats and the rebuilding Alabama basketball program. This is exactly the type of recruit the program needed to land early in Oats’ tenure. Davison ranks as the third-best recruit in Alabama basketball recruiting history. The only players ranking better are Colin Sexton and Richard Hendrix.
JD Davison, the top-rated top point guard in the Class of 2021, announced he has committed to Alabama. Needless to say, this is HUGE for Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide.

Davison picked the Crimson Tide on his birthday over the LSU Tigers and in-state rival Auburn Tigers. There is a lot of attention and hype around the top-rated 2021 point guard. The likelihood of him being a “one and done” prospect is on the high end. He should be able to spend one year with Nate Oats and be a guaranteed lottery pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. 247 Basketball Analyst Jerry Meyer had the following to say about Davison and his talent.
I will say this on JD Davison. He is in the category of Derrick Rose, Ja Morant, Russell Westbrook, John Wall, etc. in terms of athleticism. His passing reminds of Morant. Davison is an elite talent.

The Alabama Crimson Tide could have an NBA ready point guard on their roster next year. Players like the 6’3″ and 175-pound point guard can become program defining players. This should make Alabama fiercely competitive in the SEC in the 2021-22 basketball season. The program may only have the point guard for a single year, but he will make them instantly a better team. Nate Oats is excellent at maximizing the talent given to him, so it could be a perfect fit.
