During the mid-2000’s, Jamie Lynn Spears had the world in the palm of her hands. She was the star of Nickelodeon’s hit show, Zoey 101, and she was set to audition for a role in the popular movie series, Twilight. Then, her life changed dramatically.
“I remember just thinking like, ‘Y’all are insane. I’m not playing a vampire. That is so stupid. Why would I do that?’ But I went and read for that role. I remember sitting in this little room, and I think Lily Collins was there, and I felt so sick. Little did I know, I was pregnant,” Spears recalled.
After learning of her pregnancy, Spears became the center of tabloid fodder. Her hit show, Zoey 101, came to a close in May 2008 and she went to Mississippi and started building a life for her child.
“I got me a little house. I put a big gate up around it, and I was like, ‘I’m going to stay here, raise my baby, and figure this out because this is real life. I’ve put myself in this situation, I’m not condoning it or saying it’s right, but these are the cards that I have to play,'” she added.
Twelve years later, Spears has created a successful music career for herself, gotten married and had another challenge. Now, she’s looking to revisit her teenage years on Zoey 101. On Thursday, she will re-release a reimagined version of the show’s theme song. Also, the original cast will gather together for a reunion where they are expected to announce a reboot of the show.
