Jamie Foxx’s Foxxhole Productions will work with Colin Firth’s Raindog Films and Sony Music Entertainment’s (SME) Premium Content Division to produce a documentary about Luther Vandross. The project will reportedly “follow the iconic artist as he charted his own course becoming one of the most decorated and influential pop artists of all time.” The film will be directed by Dawn Porter and production is reportedly underway. Celebrating the announcement, Foxx issued a statement celebrating the life and legacy of the late, great musician.
“Luther is one of our GOATs,” Foxx said.
“He’s one of the greatest singers in the history of music. It is truly an honor to be a part of the team to help bring this incredible story to the masses.”
The announcement of Foxx’s involvement in the forthcoming documentary arrives as he makes his way back into theaters and onto streaming services. This weekend, he is set to star in Netflix’s They Cloned Tyrone. Starring Foxx, John Boyega and Teyonah Parris, the film will follow an unlikely trio as they go “down a rabbit hole into a sinister neighborhood conspiracy.” Foxx also appeared in God Is A Bullet with Maika Monroe and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau in June. The picture tells the story of a detective who takes “matters into his own hands” and “tries to infiltrate an evil cult to save his kidnapped daughter and avenge the murder of his wife.”
