Nas and Mass Appeal have signed a new deal with The Orchard, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment. Through the deal, Mass Appeal will continue to sign new artists while having access to The Orchard’s litany of services including marketing, sync licensing, advertising, radio and much more.
“As a company and strategic partner, The Orchard will continue to empower and reinforce their creative vision and help all artists under the partnership [to] expand their global reach,” The Orchard CEO Brad Navin said.
Nas is very familiar with Sony Music Entertainment. Thirty years ago, he started his career by releasing Illmatic with Sony Music Entertainment’s Columbia Records. From there, he went on to release six more albums through Columbia Records including It Was Written and Stillmatic.
“This is a full-circle moment for me,” Nas explained.
“To come back to Sony Music with my own label is a major milestone. We see this multi-phase initiative as an opportunity to continue to push the culture forward, educate and inspire.”
