James McAvoy and Bill Hader are reportedly in early talks to join the cast of the It sequel. The second installment of the rebooted property will follow the Losers Club as adults when they return to the town of Derry. Jessica Chastain was previously announced to star. Variety first reported the news.
McAvoy is apparently in talks to play Bill and Bill Hader would play Richie, played by Jaeden Lieberher and Finn Wolfhard in the first film, respectively. Chastain is set to portray an older Beverly, played by Sophia Willis in the first film. Bill Skarsgard is set to return as Pennywise the clown.
Gary Duberman is writing the sequel with Andy Muschietti returning to direct.
McAvoy can be seen next in Glass, the sequel to 2016’s Split. Bill Hader is currently starring in the HBO dark comedy Barry, which was just renewed for a second season.
Production on It: Chapter 2 is expected to begin sometime this summer. The film is set to release in theaters on September 6th, 2019.
