The Miami Heat are bringing back one of their own to keep that Heat culture thriving in Miami. After striking out on Gordon Hayward in free agency they re-signed Dion Waiters, signed Kelly Olynyk, attempting to trade Josh McRoberts and now they’re keeping reserve forward James Johnson in Miami.
Johnson had a strong year during Miami’s surprise push towards the playoffs. The Heat used his defense and leadership to power them through a 30-11 stretch to end the season and his impact was invaluable on a team in need of a spark. He has reportedly re-upped with Miami on a four-year deal.

Johnson had a great bounceback season in Miami and was an interesting player that a bunch of teams could have used on their squad. At the end of the day, the NBA’s lone black belt kickboxer will remain in South Beach.
