The Miami Heat are acting fast after the top free agents on the market chose to sign elsewhere. Blake Griffin elected to remain with the Clippers, Gordon Hayward went to the Boston Celtics, Paul Millsap joined the Denver Nuggets and even a backup plan in Rudy Gay joined the San Antonio Spurs. The next logical move is to tie up some young talent and hope something sticks. But in order to do that, they needed to clear out some cap space.
They formally waived Chris Bosh earlier in the week and moved to sign Dion Waiters and Kelly Olynyk. But in order to re-sign other veterans like James Johnson, they needed to move some more money. Josh McRoberts appears to be the main target of their salary dump.
Following comes from Shams Charania of The Vertical.

McRoberts originally signed with the Miami Heat in the summer of 2014 after the team was recovering following the departure of LeBron James. They were looking to get a solid power forward who could handle the ball and play some defense. Instead, in three seasons with the Heat McRoberts played 81 games total and never averaged more than five points per game for a season.
