As quiet as it has been kept, James Blake is coming off an incredible year. Last year, Blake appeared on Travis Scott’s Grammy nominated album, Astroworld. In addition, he found placement on not one, but two tracks on the soundtrack for Black Panther. As a result, he has earned Grammy nominations for both projects and he could possibly earn an Oscar nod for his work on the Black Panther soundtrack as well. As well as things went for him last year, Blake is looking to be even better in the new year. In order to achieve his goal, he’s released a new body of work called Assume Form.
The new project from Blake marks his fourth studio album and his first in three years. For this project, Blake brings in features from Metro Boomin’, Andre 300, Moses Sumney, and Rosalia. Best of all, each of the twelve tracks bucks the contemporary trend of coming in at under three minutes. Led by the song, “Don’t Miss It”, Blake gives us nearly an hour of new music.
