First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church and Jaden Smith’s foundation, JUST Goods, have collaborated to provide a water filtration system for citizens of Flint, Michigan. The water filtration system, The Water Box, was designed by JUST Goods and works to reduce lead and other potential water contaminants. Previously, the First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church had supplied residents with over five million bottles of water since the Flint Water Crisis began back in 2014.
According to the First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church’s Facebook page, the filtration system is still in the testing phase. The church’s latest post reads, “Today was another ‘Test’ day for us at First Trinity with our Water Box. The church later adds, “Transparency is vital for us during this process. All test and lab results will be housed on a website for public viewing.”
While testing is taking place, the church will be distributing bottled water on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. In addition, First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church will continue to maintain a limited supply of five gallon water jugs for Flint residents.
