For the past week, the world of Hip-Hop and music at large has waited patiently for Drake’s response to Pusha T‘s “The Story of Adidon“. Some suspected that Drake had something serious up his sleeve and TMZ’s Van Lathan went as far as to tweet, “Have it on an incredibly good source that Drake is about to Deal With The Situation.” However, we never got to see what Drake had up his sleeve. For another few days, we waited in anticipation and we did not receive a response. In fact, Pusha T went as far as to mock Drake’s apparent efforts by tweeting, “You got a 100k floating around for info? Can’t no amount of money create skeletons that don’t exist… #ImUpset.” According to O.G. J. Prince, we may wait the rest of our lives for a response from the OVO founder.
During a recent press run for his upcoming book, J. Prince had a lot to say about the situation. This morning, Prince told Sway that he called Drake and told him not to release his response to Pusha T. Prince stated, “I saw this going to a place that I feel would have ended his career if Drake would’ve put out this song that he had on him. It definitely would’ve hurt families and we’re not in it for that. That’s not Drake’s character to tear a man down to that extent.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the Prince family, you’re definitely familiar with the work within Hip-Hop. J. Prince is the CEO of Rap-A-Lot Records, which has been the home to talent such as . His son, Jas Prince, discovered Drake on MySpace and introduced him to Lil’ Wayne and Birdman. Needless to say, if J. Prince says something, Drake will likely take heed to his advice.
