Jermaine “J. Cole” Cole will reportedly leave the Rwanda Patriots of the Basketball Africa League due to a “family obligation.” As a result, he will miss the remaining three games of the Basketball Africa League’s inaugural season.
Cole’s first three games of professional action drew the eyes of fans around the world. In 45 minutes of action, he had five points, three assists and five rebounds.
Led by former North Carolina State University standout Brandon Costner, the Patriots finished with a 2-1 record in the regular season. The team is set to begin its post-season run against Ferroviario de Maputo on Thursday.
At this time, it is unclear if Cole will pursue professional basketball in the future. According to former ESPN commentator Amin El Hassan, the North Carolina native has received multiple invites to NBA training camps. However, he opted to play in the Basketball Africa League as a way to build up to larger opportunities.
While he figures out his next move, Cole will focus on his family and friends. He also continues to release new visuals from his recent release, The Off-Season.
