One month after earning a co-sign from Drake, Ice Spice has made her debut on the Billboard charts. The New York native’s breakout hit, “Munch,” has earned the 34th spot on the media outlet’s “Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs” chart. “Munch” beats out songs like “Church Girl” by Beyoncé, “Gotta Move On” by Diddy and “Die Hard” by Kendrick Lamar. It also sits directly behind rising tracks like “Good Love” by the City Girls, “Cooped Up” by Post Malone and “Cuff It” by Beyoncé.
“Thank you! Love ya,” she tweeted as she celebrated her accomplishment.
Ice Spice has been on the radar of many inside the music industry for some time now, but the success of “Munch” has introduced her to a new audience. Since the song caught the eye of Drake, she has been spotted at a concert with the Toronto superstar, stopped by Genius for an “Open Mic” performance and appeared at Rolling Loud in Toronto. Not to mention, the “Munch” video has amassed more than five million views and many more on TikTok.
With the year coming to a close, many are watching to see what Ice Spice will do now that she has the world’s attention.
