Actor Hill Harper is stepping away from the silver screen to make time for his financial endeavors. Just in time for National Literacy Month, Harper is preparing for the launch of his digital wallet and cryptocurrency exchange platform, The Black Wall Street. Through his work, Harper hopes to build the world’s largest investment and financial literacy platform for Black and brown communities. It is also the first Black-owned platform of its kind to launch in the United States
“Our technology seeks to replicate the brick and mortar Black Wall Street, as a digital ecosystem that will galvanize the financially excluded and directly stimulate the economic growth and spending in marginalized communities everywhere,” Harper said.
“With the Black Wall Street technology, we seek to make obsolete payday lenders and other financial predators plaguing our communities, while simultaneously creating cross generational wealth transfer, for people who have historically been taught to work for our wages instead of making our wages work for us…because Black Cash Matters.”
To promote his platform, Harper will embark on a 30-city bus tour in May. He is set to begin in Los Angeles and end in Tulsa, Oklahoma in June. For more information about The Black Wall Street, visit the platform’s official website.
