Udonis Haslem is a heat-lifer. At least that’s what it seems for at least one more year. Udonis Haslem will re-join the Miami Heat, adding to the sudden long list of acquisitions by Miami.
Just a few days after Dwyane Wade elected to leave Miami to join his hometown Chicago Bulls, the franchise in South Beach looked to immediately bounce back. Losing the greatest player in franchise history is hard but the Heat are trying their hardest to do it.
All eyes went towards them wanting to keep combo guard Tyler Johnson. They matched the Brooklyn Nets offer for Johnson but before that, the rest of the dominos fell. They signed deals with veteran wing Wayne Ellington, former Raptors big man James Johnson and athletic forward Derrick Williams. But they didn’t stop there.
Miami also agreed to terms with two big man, including Haslem and former Brooklyn Nets project Willie Reed. Along with the two bigs, the Heat also signed sharpshooting wingman Luke Babbitt.
Ethan J. Skolnick of the Miami Herald has the report of the Udonis Haslem re-signing.
Haslem will play a 14th season with the Miami Heat, agreeing upon a one year, $4 million contract with the Miami Heat.
This is not expected to be his final season.
If he plays a 15th, and returns at the minimum, it would be roughly equivalent to a two-year, $5.8 million deal since the veteran’s minimum is expected to go up.
Shams Charania of The Vertical on Yahoo! Sports has the information on the Willie Reed signing.
Free agent Willie Reed has agreed to a two-year deal with the Miami Heat, league sources told The Vertical.
For Reed, who has battled in training camps and on 10-day deals, the contract represents a second guaranteed agreement in the NBA. He’ll have a player option in the second season, sources said.
The Miami Heat officially announced the deal involving Luke Babbitt.
OFFICIAL: The @MiamiHEAT have acquired Luke Babbitt from New Orleans in exchange for NOP’s own 2018 2nd-round pick & cash considerations.
