Steven Spielberg is widely considered to be one of the greatest, if not the greatest director of all time. Which means it should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that a documentary was going to be made at some point highlighting his career. Filmmaker Susan Lacy was given unparalleled access to Spielberg, his friends, and his colleagues in order to make this documentary as special as possible. The film will highlight all of Spielberg’s work and accomplishments, from his initial struggles through directing some of the biggest and best motion pictures of all time. From the looks of the trailer, the documentary seems to be very intimate as well. Which leads me to believe that we might gain some new perspectives on some of his best work and processes. HBO is known for producing great content and this documentary looks like it’s keeping the tradition alive and well.
We’ve attached the trailer and official synopsis below.
