The Atlanta Hawks will interview former NBA point guard Chauncey Billups for their general manager vacancy, reports ESPN’s Chris Haynes:

Billups, a five-time All-Star, most notably played for the Detroit Pistons, where he won a championship in 2004 and was named Finals MVP. Over the course of his career, he also played for the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers.
Currently, Billups serves as a studio analyst for ESPN. He has no front office experience, but maybe we’re moving towards a trend of media members joining front offices. It’s a different sport, but the San Francisco 49ers hired former Fox broadcaster John Lynch to be their GM in January.
The Hawks’ general manager position has been open since the team parted ways with Wes Wilcox in early May.
The Hawks also relieved Mike Budenholzer of his president duties, leaving him as head coach and only that.
Aside from Billups, other candidates for the job include Troy Weaver, David Griffin and Joe Dumars. The Hawks also requested an interview with Portland Trail Blazers GM Nail Olshey but had their request denied by the Blazers.
Billups is an interesting choice for GM, but somebody with a bit more front office experience might make more sense.
