On Tuesday, January 7, 2025, Glen Powell reportedly inked a first look deal with Universal Pictures through his production banner, Barnstorm. Powell will lead Barnstorm alongside Dan Cohen, who spent more than a decade with Shawn Levy’s production banner, 21 Laps.
“Dan Cohen is someone I’ve been a fan of for over a decade. His passion for storytelling and storytellers is inspiring, and I’m so proud to call him my partner in this exciting new chapter,” Powell said about Cohen.
Powell is one of the fastest rising stars in Hollywood. Within the last two years, he has appeared in Top Gun: Maverick with Tom Cruise, Anyone But You with Sydney Sweeney and Hit Man with Adria Arjona. Most recently, he appeared in Twisters with Daisy Edgar-Jones. Now, he’s shooting The Running Man, Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the Stephen King story, for Paramount Pictures.
“Glen is the complete package: a talented, charismatic producer, creator, writer, and actor at the top of his game, who is committed to entertaining global audiences across all genres,” Universal Pictures President Peter Cramer said.
“He was an ideal partner throughout the production and release of our hit Twisters, and we know that he will continue to expand on his success in the years to come. We couldn’t be more excited to collaborate with him, Dan, and the Barnstorm team to create compelling new stories for the big screen.”
