George Karl made his first move as Sacramento Kings head coach on the trade deadline by getting his old friend Andre Miller to join the cause. It has proved well so far. But of course there is always room for improvement. And it seems that Karl is already looking to the team of the future. According to Bleacher Report, the Kings have shown interest in Nuggets’ Ty Lawson.
George Karl’s first power move as Sacramento Kings coach was to trade for Andre Miller, a trusted old hand from his Denver days. Expect more of the same this summer. Sources say Karl would love to acquire Ty Lawson—if the rebuilding Nuggets were to make him available—or any other members of his last Nuggets team, which won 57 games in 2012-13. Karl wants players who move the ball and push the tempo, and that could mean wild upheaval on the Kings roster.
Now a Ty Lawson in Sacramento would be very interesting indeed. And to be honest. This is Denver’s chance to decide whether to blow the team up or find some players and create a Playoff team. For too long they have been stuck in the middle of “NBA Limbo” which is too bad to be a Playoff team. To good a team to tank. They have a solid core. They really just need to find a bench. And maybe players that can play 82 games in a season. That’s their problem. They can’t stay healthy.
