The Houston Rockets had a disappointing 2015-16 season. Despite making the Western Conference Finals the year before, the Rockets took a large step back. The team finished ass the 8th seed in the West and lost in the first round to the Warriors.
The Rockets’ disappointing year led to major changes in the offseason. Mike D’Antoni was hired as head coach, leading many to believe that Houston will be an offensive juggernaut.
D’Antoni will have the opportunity to coach James Harden as a lead ball-handler. Harden will have some new weapons around him in Eric Gordon and Ryan Anderson. However, he will no longer have Dwight Howard protecting the rim on defense.
There are many questions about whether the Rockets will be any good next season. However, they should be an exciting team with multiple offensive weapons in a fast-paced system. As such, they will have 22 national TV games next season.
The Rockets will open play on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 26th. That will be one of seven road contests in the first eight games of the season for them. They will play host to the recently departed Dwight Howard and the Atlanta Hawks on February 2nd. Houston will have four games in April against the Clippers, Nuggets, Kings, and Wolves. The latter three could be among the teams Houston must battle to get into the postseason.
