The summer is coming to a close and fall is right around the corner. As the temperature dips and the colors on the leaves change, Freddie Gibbs hopes to provide the soundtrack of the season. This week, the Gary, Indiana native announced that his latest body of work, $oul $old Separately, will be released on September 30, 2022.
“The new album is going to be crazy. This is probably going to be the best album I [have done]. I think this [is the] one,” Freddie Gibbs told Complex last year while working on the album and filming Down With The King.
“Piñata [is a] classic. Bandana was a classic. Alfredo is a classic. SSS [is] going to be the same thing. I leveled up on his album.”
$oul $old $eparately will take a step away from his previous projects like Piñata and Bandana. Instead of limiting features and working with one producer, Freddie Gibbs spread out his music. In November, he revealed that Boi-1da, DJ Paul, Justice League, Tay Keith, Kaytranada and several other accomplished producers had contributed to his album.
“[There are] going to be more features [on this album]. [There’s] a little more sauce on this one I would say,” he declared.
To begin the $oul $old $eparately rollout, Freddie Gibbs began putting up billboards around the country. This Friday, he also shared a new record called “Too Much” with Moneybagg Yo.
“Rocks in a?n*gga wrist, too?much/Forgiatos on a Bent’, too much/’42, a n*gga sip, too much/I done hit another n*gga b*tch too much,” he raps over the VA and IV Beatss production.
