Former Welterweight Champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is looking to re-enter the division. However, he’s not interested in getting in the ring with the likes of Errol Spence Jr. and Terence “Bud” Crawford. Rather, he’d like to do business with Crawford. Following the Nebraska native’s recent split with Bob Arum and Top Rank, he’s looking to sign him to his promotional output.
“I’ve always wanted the best for Terence Crawford, always,” Mayweather Jr. said recently, according to Bad Left Hook.
“And we spoke on numerous occasions and we got each other phone number and hopefully everything plays out like it should. And of course I would love to sign Terence Crawford, I would love to sig.”
At the moment, Crawford is eyeing a welterweight unification bout with Errol Spence Jr. before the end of the year. Mayweather Jr. believes he’s the man that can help make that happen.
“I talked about getting Terence Crawford the fights that he wants. A lot of times, you see, there are so many young fighters now that are starting their own promotion company. You have to be able to give [an] advance [to] fighters [of one] million dollars, two [million dollars] or three million dollars before you can get a promotion company [going],” he added.
Crawford remains a free agent in the world of boxing, but it’s unclear if he would be interested in doing business with the former champion.
