In an unexpected announcement, five-star wing BJ Boston declared his commitment to Kentucky, per Evan Daniels of 247Sports.
Boston is coach John Calipari’s first commitment in the class of 2020. He is ranked 10th in the class in the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The rising senior wing is a lanky, versatile prospect with top-notch athleticism.
BJ Boston chose the Kentucky Wildcats over other schools such as Duke, Auburn, and Florida. Doing his proper due diligence, Boston took official visits to each school before deciding that Kentucky would be the best fit.

Boston recently unveiled his decision to transfer to Sierra Canyon High School in California for his senior season. where he will be playing with the likes of Bronny James and Zaire Wade.
The commitment for Boston comes on the heels of a successful summer showing on the EYBL circuit for AOT Running Rebels. Over the course of the circuit, Boston averaged 22.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 3.2 APG while shooting 52% from the field in 18 games.
For Kentucky, Boston will likely be the first of multiple 5-star prospects to commit in the class of 2020. Coach Calipari is involved with other elite recruits such as Isaiah Todd, Jalen Green, Josh Christopher, and more. A blue-chip talent like BJ Boston committing this early signals good things ahead for the Wildcats.
