Colorado has given the world some of its favorite musical acts over the last two decades. Most notably, the Centennial state has offered the world The Fray, One Republic and Jessie Carmichael of The Maroon 5. Within the world of singer-songwriters, the state of Colorado has produced the likes of Demetrius Ross, India Arie, Phillip Bailey, and the iconic Earth, Wind & Fire. As we head into a new world full of vocalists and bands, one artist from Denver area is looking to make her mark on the music industry.
Kayla Rae is a twenty-six-year-old singer-songwriter with a soulful voice and vibe that is inviting in personal. Raised in Colorado Springs with her mother and four siblings, Rae’s first records, “Dagger” and “EROS”, appeared on Soundcloud back in 2012. After a three year gap in official music releases, Rae jumped into the music industry back in 2015 when she found herself in between jobs and decided to move along with a friend living in the Denver area. Initially, Kayla Rae joined a band but later decided to focus her efforts on riding solo. Over the last two years, Kayla Rae has garnered more attention as she released remixes of Drake’s “Passion Fruit”, Bryson Tiller’s “Exchange” and PartyNextDoor’s “Come and See Me”.
More recently, Kayla Rae has taken another step in her musical career with her two highest performing singles, “Practice” and “Self Control”. The two records have a sensual vibe that is both hypnotic and fun to listen to. Her hard work and talent have landed her on stage for KS 107.5’s Summer Jam alongside Wiz Khalifa and Rae Sremmurd. Fans in the area can check her out in just a few weeks. Those of us farther away will have to wait for debut EP later this year. In the meantime, check out Kayla Rae’s “Practice”.
