Kissimmee, Florida is at the center of the boxing world tonight as two young stars take the ring. Leading the way, Edgar Berlanga knocked down Demond Nicholson four times en route to his 17th straight win. Following Berlanga, WBO Featherweight Titlist Emanuel Navarrete looked to extend his winning streak to 28 straight wins against challenger Chris Diaz
From the opening bell, Navarrette controlled the fight. Throwing punches from different angles and never slowing down, the Mexican champion put Diaz in a defensive position for most of the bout. While Diaz showed true toughness and overcame a bevy of cuts on his face, his corner ultimately called the fight in the final minute.
With a dominant performance, Navarrete assumes his position atop the 126-pound division. At just 26 years old, his reign is just beginning.
WHAT A FIGHT!!!! ?
Insane heart on display from both sides, but El Vaquero gets it done, earning a 12th round stoppage of Pitufo Diaz. (One more round of applause ?)#AndStill | #NavarreteDiaz pic.twitter.com/YORrk64n9u
