Former Toronto Raptors head coach Dwane Casey has been named 2017-2018 NBA Coach of the Year. Casey led the Raptors to an outstanding 59 wins this past season, good for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
However, the NBA (and sports in general) is a cruel business. Casey was fired by Toronto in May after a third-consecutive playoff exit at the hands of LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Casey is the most successful coach in Raptors history and penned a heart-warming letter to the city of Toronto.
The Detroit Pistons hired Casey just about one month after he was let go by the Raptors.
