Toronto-based duo dvsn has signed a management deal with LVRN. Through this deal, dvsn will join a stable of R&B artists that includes Summer Walker, 6LACK and Shelley FKA DRAM.
“I think for us, it’s really about expansion, but expanding in a way that makes sense to what’s true to our core and our identity,” LVRN Co-Founder Justice Baiden said.
“With dvsn, I’ve always been a fan, especially following their first project [Sept. 5]. Me as a fan. I always reach out to other artists doing their thing and say, ‘I’m f–king with what y’all are doing. This is what we’re doing,’ and we kind of just stayed cordial.”
The R&B duo is coming off an incredible year that was led by the release of their latest album, A Muse In Her Feelings. The project featured Jessie Reyez, Ty Dolla $ign, Summer Walker, Buju Banton and several others. More recently, dvsn released a two-pack called Amusing Her Feelings. Since signing with LVRN, the group has started working with Jermaine Dupri and Sean Garrett.
“There is no other better home for R&B than what we’re creating. That’s just a fact. Anybody can say what they want. In the last four years, we put up arguably two, three classics in R&B. I don’t know anybody else that’s doing that that’s not a major label,” Baiden added.
“Obviously, major labels sign in bulk, but if you look at the stories that have come out in R&B with Summer and 6LACK. Those are all important stories in the space. I don’t think there’s anybody that understands the space and is dedicated to the space as much as we are. If you want to have a career in R&B, come to LVRN.”
