NPR’s Tiny Desk series has managed to evolve and sustain itself throughout the ups and downs of the pandemic. From filming in coffee shops with Xavier Omar to attending church with Spillage Village, the series has expanded beyond the typical format it has featured for some time. Not to mention, the series has featured big names like Rick Ross, 2 Chainz, Jack Harlow, Kirk Franklin and Giveon along the way. This week, NPR is putting together a special set of shows for SXSW.
For the first time, DUCKWRTH took the Tiny Desk stage for the 2021 SXSW festival. He kicked things off with “Kiss U Right Now” from last year’s SuperGood. As the set progressed, the Los Angeles native shared a special message with his fans.
“We are going to play some new songs for you all if that’s okay. You don’t have a choice,” he said.
Backed by his band, DUCKWRTH went on to play two new songs, “Lovers and Freaks” and “Birthday Suit.” Then, he ended his set with a performance of “SuperGood.” Throughout his set, he’s backed by a band that includes Justin “Jhawk” Hawkins, Amber Olivia, Olivia Walker, Solomon “Solo” Smith, Devin Smith and Darryl Staves Jr. Check out the full performance below.
