Over the years, we have mourned the loss of many musicians that were believed to have immense musical potential. Among the world of music, we have lost Marvin Gaye at 45, Kurt Cobain at 27, Notorious B.I.G at 25 and Tupac at 25. More recently, we have lost Bankroll Fresh, Lil’ Snupe and of course, XXXTentacion. One name that is often forgotten is Static Major. Passing away at only 33, Static Major is best remembered for his work on Lil’ Wayne’s “Lollipop”, but he also helped write and produce “Are You That Somebody?”, “Pony”, “Rock The Boat” and “Try Again”. Most recently, a snippet of Static Major’s work was used on Drake’s album Take Care.

With the release of Drake’s newest album hours away, it is being reported that Static Major’s work will be featured on the project. In an Instagram post, Static Major’s widow, Avonti Garrett, shared a video that featured the text, “June 29th. The legacy continues. Drake and Static.” When asked about the music selection that played along with the video, Garrett wrote, “An unreleased, unheard song.”
This is the first piece of information about featured artists that we have received about the album. As of now, we know that the album will be a double disc project called Scorpion that will be released on June 29th. Beyond the basics, we don’t have anything else to offer at the moment.
