It’s been a wild few weeks in Hip-Hop. From the release of Pusha T’s Daytona to Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle“, it has definitely been one of the most exciting, yet contentious periods of contemporary Hip-Hop history. However, things are seemingly cooling down after J. Prince stepped in and eased the situation. With that being said, the beef may be moving from dis tracks to behind the scenes disputes. While Kanye West is riding high off of the release of his new album, Ye, Drake may be a bit heated.
According to Hot 97’s Peter Rosenberg, the Toronto ambassador may have written on Kanye’s new album and not received credit for his work. As we know from Drake’s “Duppy Freestyle”, Drake has assisted Kanye’s writing in the past with records like “Pop Style” and “30 Hours”. More recently, Drake is believed to have helped Kanye write the hook to “Yikes”. Rosenberg said, “It is now a confirmed thing that Drake wrote the hook for ‘Yikes’.” Rosenberg also added, “It may be the best melody on the album when you go listen to it. You’ll hear it now and go, ‘oh, that does sound really good.’ [Kanye] gets a double congratulations in my opinion. They didn’t credit [Drake]. They said they like ‘forgot.’ They left him off, he doesn’t have a writing credit.”
It’s unclear whether or not Drake will pursue this matter further, but judging from what has happened over the past weeks, it’s safe to say that he would not be pleased. We’ll see where this feud goes for now, but in the meantime, you can check out Kanye’s new album, Ye.
