On Tuesday, January 21, 2025, President-Elect Donald Trump will return to the Oval Office and formally begin his second term as President of the United States. Within days of taking office, the New York native is expected to issue “dozens” of executive orders regarding energy, immigration an diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in America.
“There will be over 100 executive actions — commands to the bureaucracies to change their ways,” Stephen Miller, Trump’s incoming deputy chief of staff for policy, told FOX News.
During his first week in office, President Joe Biden reportedly signed two dozen executive orders. If Trump is able to execute in the way he plans to, the Florida resident could surpass Biden’s mark in less than a week. Most notably, the former host of The Apprentice has indicated that he’d like to use his power as President to greatly amplify U.S. law enforcement’s presence at the U.S.-Mexico border. In particular, political insiders at The Hill say “Trump plans to declare an emergency at the border and classify drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.” Additionally, the man recently convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records reportedly plans to declare a national emergency related to energy and repeal rules on electric vehicles. Most also expect Trump to repeal various DEI measures implemented during the Biden-Harris administration.
“Somebody said yesterday, ‘Sir, don’t sign so many in one day. Let’s do it over a period of weeks,’” Donald Trump told his supporters during a rally at Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, January 19.
“I said, ‘Like hell we’re going to do it over a period of weeks.’ We’re going to sign them at the beginning.”
