RCA has announced that Doja Cat’s Elvis soundtrack cut, “Vegas,” will be released on May 6, 2022. The single precedes the the soundtrack’s official release which is expected to take place in June. The label has not shared the project’s track list, but it is expected to include renditions of Elvis Presley’s biggest hits from popular artists of today.
Over the weekend, several Elvis contributors appeared at Coachella earlier this month. Most notably, Doja Cat took center stage with one of the festival’s most talked about performances. Elsewhere, Yola, who will play the role of Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and Shonka Dukureh, who portrays Big Mama Thornton, performed at the major festival.
“[Yola is] a powerhouse voice full of song, plus a beautiful soul,” Baz Luhrmann said, according to Variety.
“She was so devoted to playing the role, she came all the way to Australia and captured the detail of how Sister Rosetta Tharpe expressed herself on stage for the film.”
The world will be able to see and hear the talents of Yola and Shonka Dukureh when Elvis debuts in theaters on June 24, 2022. In the meantime, check out this teaser from Doja Cat’s Elvis soundtrack cut, “Vegas,” below.
