Within the last month, a number of high-profile college football and basketball stars have landed deals with successful brands and businesses. However, no deal appears to be more promising than the one Clemson Tigers Quarterback D.J. Uiagalelei has finalized with Dr. Pepper. Through this deal, Uiagalelei will appear in several of the company’s “Fansville” commercials that appear throughout the college football season. Thus far, the financial terms of the deal have not been shared with fans and media outlets.
“For me, NIL has been a great opportunity to be able to work with brands, to be able to do stuff like this,” Uiagalelei told ESPN.
“If I was playing college football five years ago, I wouldn’t be able to do this. It’s a great opportunity for people now to be able to build off their brand, make money and work on different partnerships like Dr. Pepper. I’m super excited about it.”
Uiagalelei is not only working with Dr. Pepper this season. The Clemson Tiger will also be representing Bojangles this season in a variety of publicity avenues.
“I wanted to do brands that are authentic to me,” he added.
“I don’t want to be one of these people that do all these different brands. I can have a long-standing partnership with Dr. Pepper. They go hand-in-hand with college football.”
Uiagalelei and his teammates will kick off their 2021 campaign on September 4 against the University of Georgia Bulldogs.
