Justin “Director X” Lutz has made a name for himself as one of the most popular music video directors of the last decade. He’s spent his time working with the likes of Drake, Rihanna, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Usher. Along the way, he’s picked up a number of awards and accolades. Now, he’s looking for a new challenge in video creation.
The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Director X will direct a new series for Boat Rocker Studios and Global Television. While it is unclear who star in the series, it appears that Oprhan Black screenwriter Chris Roberts will write the script.
“The plot centers on a fearless young woman, Robyn Loxley, whose masked hip-hop band, The Hood — from Sherwood Towers, a cluster of rental high-rises in a working-class corner of New Nottingham — learns to fight for what’s right and hold those in power to account by using their greed against them to help their community,” the synopsis reads, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Production for the eight-episode drama is set to begin in Ontario later this year. A tentative 2023 release date is still being worked on.
