Super middleweight contender Diego Pacheco will reportedly put his undefeated record on the line against Trevor McCumby. The date nor the venue have been announced.
“We also like the Trevor McCumby fight, who boxed Caleb Plant,” Pacheco’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, said. “It’s a really good fight.”
McCumby is a 32-year-old super middleweight contender fighting out of Glendale, Arizona, but originally from the Chicago area. Flying under the radar for much of his career, he built up an unblemished record of 28-0 with 21 knockouts before challenging former world champion Caleb Plant at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada last September. Scoring a knockdown in the fourth round, he raised some eyebrows before being stopped in the ninth round.
Pacheco also went through arguably the toughest test of his carer in his last outing. Against previously unbeaten super middleweight Steve Nelson, he earned a unanimous decision win to improve his record to 23-0 with 18 knockouts. Afterward, he seemed destined for a showdown with fellow unbeaten contender Christian Mbilli for the interim WBC Super Middleweight Title. However, he pulled out of negotiations in favor of a bout with McCumby later this year.
