On Friday, April 25, 2025, Assistant U.S. Attorney Madison Smyser reportedly disclosed new information regarding prosecution of Sean “Diddy” Combs. At a hearing in Manhattan, Smyser revealed a plea deal had been offered to the defendant, but Combs and his legal representatives declined the offer. However, Smyser nor her colleagues disclosed the details of the offer.
Combs is currently being held at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York as he awaits trial. On September 16, 2024, Diddy was arrested and charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
“As alleged in the Indictment, for years, Sean Combs used the business empire he controlled to sexually abuse and exploit women, as well as to commit other acts of violence and obstruction of justice,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said. “Today, he is charged with racketeering and sex trafficking offenses. If you have been a victim of Combs’ alleged abuse – or if you know anything about his alleged crimes – we urge you to come forward. This investigation is far from over.”
Facing life in prison if convicted on all charges, Combs has pleaded not guilty and will proceed with a trial.
“Mr. Combs is a fighter. He’s going to fight this to the end. He’s innocent. He came to New York to establish his innocence,” attorney Marc Agnifilo said. “He’s not afraid. He’s not afraid of the charges.”
Combs is set to stand trial next month. Jury selection is expected to begin Monday, May 5 with opening statements to be made on the following Monday, May 12, 2025.
